Straight Answers

Pricing Questions, Answered

The questions Vancouver homeowners actually ask us about money — no fine print.

Is the estimated price range the final amount I'll pay?
The ranges on this page reflect thousands of real invoices across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Your exact price is confirmed in writing after a technician diagnoses the job on site — before any work begins. If the final written quote is higher than the estimate and you don't approve it, you pay nothing but the diagnostic fee.
What is a diagnostic fee, and when is it waived?
The diagnostic fee ($89–$129 for HVAC and plumbing, $199 for after-hours emergency call-out) covers a full on-site diagnosis by a licensed technician. It's credited in full toward the repair when you approve the work — so on completed repairs, the diagnosis is effectively free.
Do you charge overtime on evenings, weekends or holidays?
No. A repair booked at 2am on a statutory holiday costs the same flat rate as one booked Tuesday at noon. Evenings, weekends and holidays are all standard rate — it's one of the reasons our emergency reviews consistently beat the competition.
How accurate is the live cost estimator on this page?
The estimator uses our actual flat-rate book, adjusted for home size and equipment tier — most final invoices land inside the range. Variables that can move a price include accessibility, obsolete parts, code-required upgrades like venting or electrical, and permit conditions — all confirmed with you before work starts.
What financing options do you offer?
Flexible financing at 7.99% APR with terms from 12 to 120 months, plus 0% interest for 12 months on approved credit for qualifying installations. A $10,000 heat pump works out to roughly $210/month over 60 months. Most applications get a decision the same day — see full financing details.
How do CleanBC heat pump rebates work — do I pay full price upfront?
CleanBC Better Homes offers up to $8,000 for a qualifying heat pump, and municipal top-ups can bring the total to roughly $16,000 depending on your city. We complete and submit the rebate paperwork for you, and on qualifying jobs the rebate can be deducted from your invoice so you're not waiting on a cheque. Oil-heated homes may also qualify for the federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability grant of up to $10,000.
Do you offer a price-match guarantee?
Yes. Find a lower written quote from a licensed, insured Metro Vancouver competitor for the same scope of work and equipment grade, and we'll match it — as long as the quote is current and itemized. Once rebates and our no-overtime policy are factored in, we usually beat competing quotes on total cost anyway.
What happens if the job costs more than the quoted price?
We absorb the difference. Once you approve a written flat-rate quote, the price is locked. If we underquote, that's on us — you never pay more than the number you approved. If you decline recommended work, you only owe the diagnostic fee.
Are permits, removal and disposal included in installation prices?
Yes. Every installation quote includes municipal permits, removal and environmentally responsible disposal of old equipment, all materials and refrigerant handling, commissioning, and a walkthrough with your warranty documents. The only extras are site conditions we couldn't see (like an unsafe chimney liner) — and those are always approved by you first.
